Last Wednesday I told Garet that I had a four day weekend coming up, thinking that we’d go to Vancouver, Portland or camping somewhere. I certainly didn’t expect him to say “let’s go to Mexico!” Needless to say I was all grins at the opportunity for another tropical ScenicBoys adventure.
Bright and early Friday morning we were on a plane bound for Puerto Vallarta, with our new backpacks, huge smiles and white skin ready for some sun. It was beautiful when we arrived, sunny and warm, nothing like Seattle weather right now. Our resort drinks and ocean front were so inviting that we just decided to hang out there to relax and take it all in on our first day.
Saturday morning we ventured out to downtown PVR for some exploring, souvenir shopping and boy watching. There are lots of beautiful buildings and sculptures, not to mention all the HOT boys down there on Spring Break.
We walked a good mile down to the end of the beach to the Blue Chairs, where we read all the gay boys would be. Then sure enough, we saw the blue chairs and tons of toned bodies in little Speedo shorts. We bathed in the sun, sipped amazing pina coladas, and played in the huge waves. It also didn’t take us long to make friends. Paul and Martin from Quebec invited us back to there condo to hang out and have some cervezas; a few drinks in to our conversation and we were having a naked US history lesson for Paul. Haha. These boys were a lot of fun, but after we left we didn’t run into them again. Hopefully they’ll remember our blog.
That night we went out on the town to a fun club called Mañana, complete with pool and open air dance floor. We drank, danced and chatted with some locals till about 1am when we decided to head back to our hotel for some sleep.
Sunday was a bit more of a relaxing day. We caught a cab to my good buddy Darrique’s gay hotel, the Casa Cupula, for brunch and to get directions to a much more private beach farther south than Puerto Vallarta. We took a 20 minute cab ride to a little village were we got on a water taxi that took us another 20 minutes to Majahuitas beach. It looked like a very beautiful and exciting beach when we got there, but very soon after the water taxi left we realized it was a small private resort beach, so we couldn’t tan naked, nor could we hike back into the jungle. So we made the best of our three hours at this beach by climbing over some boulders along the shore and played back there naked. By the end of the day we were ready to lounge around our hotel with drinks in hand.
Our last day in Puerto Vallarta was spent doing a bit more exploring/shopping in downtown. Through out the weekend we past a few shops that looked very interesting, so we were on a mission to find them again. We eventually found them all but not before walking around for about 2 hours in the sun. We bought a few more gifts and made it back to our hotel with time left over for some drinks, pool side, before we had to hop in a cab and say goodbye to PVR.
If Mexico is on your list of future destinations, Puerto Vallarta is one of the best gay destinations. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of options for ScenicBoy style adventures (i.e. au’ natural) but that won’t stop us from going back the next chance we get!
