Kitty Likes Camping

Wowza, have we been busy! Between doing prep work for our Adventure Company, leading actual trips, working our regular jobs, gearing up for Burning Man, and enjoying our personal lives, we have had no time to update the blog. :-S But such is the life of a couple of granola-gay wilderness zealots.

This week is no exception to our busy schedule, as we are gearing up for a 4-day backpacking trip this weekend, then doing another one the following weekend. But because so much is going on with us, we thinks it's only fair something gets posted about this crazy month.

Earlier this month, the weekend before our first official Scenic Boy Adventure, we did a relaxing car camping trip with our buddy George and our amazing kitty, Tonka. This was the third camping trip where kitty got to join us, the first was 3 years ago when he was still a kitten.

Next weekend we embark on our next "oficial" adventure into the Enchanted Valley. Wish us luck and check back soon for an update on how it all goes. Till then, we wish everyone happy trails and a fun-filled summer!!

Gemini Camping Adventure!

June is my favorite month here in the Pacific Northwest. Springtime temperatures start to get warmer, while the familiar “Seattle gray” fades to more of a welcoming summer blue. It also seems that, more than any other month, June is the time when we celebrate a multitude of our friend’s birthdays, including mine.

Two years ago we thought it would be fun to celebrate all the Gemini birthdays on one big fun camping adventure. The first year was a hit, the second year was awesome and this year was a total blast! The Entiat Canyon in Eastern Washington is an absolutely perfect destination to take a handful of friends to car-camp. The weather is typically nicer on that side of the mountains, there are usually fewer crowds, and there is a bunch of awesome day-hikes and waterfalls tucked away in this Ponderosa filled canyon. This year 12 of us (6 Geminis and 6 non-Geminis) camped on the bluffs above the Entiat River. We were lucky to score our secret spot (after arriving after dusk the Friday before Father’s Day). It’s a really great spot - just off the road, away from the campgrounds, but close enough to still have a pit toilet nearby. A few of our friends became official ScenicBoys over the weekend. Ian has joined us on a handful of adventures, but only this time decided to join the artistic nude club. Jason is a new-comer to the camping world (Vantage was his first trip, ever) and was excited to strip down and pose with me.Keith has also joined us on many trips before. He actally lives in San Francisco now, but flew up to Seattle to join us for this trip!

The Gemini Camping Adventure is always one of my favorites, not only cause I’m a Gemini, but also because we get to invite more friends who wouldn’t normally come on our usual backpacking trips.
